Welcome to the Wild Photography blog! We’re professional NZIPP qualified wedding photographers based in Wellington, working all over the lower North Island. We photograph around thirty weddings each year and love every minute of it!

We use our blog to share wedding tips, general updates, announcements, some personal photos, and a few photos from each wedding are usually posted within 48 hours of the wedding. Julia and Josh ~ Peka Peka ~ Waikanae ~ Beach Wedding

Julia and Josh were married on a fantastic autumn day in Peka Peka, on the Kapiti Coast, at a huge modern house called Peka Peka Paradise. The weather was probably one of the best days so far this year, it was almost too sunny! They had an amazing casual barefoot beach ceremony, a very kiwi wedding, probably a little different from Denmark where Julia’s from and Julia and Josh live. We had our portable studio lighting down on the beach to help get really great colorful photos, it really helped us make great photos!

We spend an hour on the busy streets of Peka Peka taking some photos, then down to the beach for some sunset photos before their reception. Catering was by Ruth Pretty Catering, who provided delicious food and were an absolute pleasure to work with. Julia and Josh braved the cold evening to do their first dance on the picturesque outdoor patio, which was fantastic for photos.

Congratulations to Julia and Josh, it was a fantastic day and we really enjoyed photographing it for you. Here’s some of the photos that’ve caught my eye so far.

Tongariro Crossing 2012

On Friday my partner and I did the Tongario crossing for the first time. We had great clear weather though it got very cold at times, almost unlimited visibility, and being a Friday the crowds weren’t too bad. We had a great walk, but we were definitely a bit sore the next day!

Alex and Alex Wedding Photos ~ Old St Pauls ~ The Wellesley

Alex and Alex (yes you read that right!) were married on Saturday at the beautiful Old St Pauls, with their reception at the The Wellesley Boutique Hotel, a charming old hotel in the heart of Wellington. Miranda Millen did a wonderful job on the makeup, though the gorgeous (girl) Alex didn’t really need a lot of help!

The rain held off until after their ceremony, we managed to get a few photos out and about before the wedding party had to rush for the cars – luckily we have near waterproof cameras and can take photos outside in almost any weather! We finished off a few photos of the cars then headed to a couple of indoor spots for more photos.

Here are some of our favorites from the Alex’s wedding day. I particularly love the photo outside in the rain, and of Alex just before she left for the church.

Nicola & Neil ~ Ohariu Farm

Nicola and Neil were married on a beautiful Saturday at the fantastic Ohariu Farm. They had a lovely quiet family wedding, very relaxed and low key, putting their own unique spin on the wedding day. We had plenty of time for photos so we went to a few places around the farm, we made great use of the beautiful sunlight and added to it a little with our portable studio lighting, which helps us make beautiful colorful images of Nicola on Neil all day. Congratulations Nicola and Neil, and thanks for inviting us to be part of your wedding day!
